Nov.6, 2019 -- The cultural event series “Meet Across Millennium” are staged in Florence

Nov.6, 2019 -- The cultural event series “Meet Across Millennium” co-sponsored by China’s State Council Information Office (SCIO) and the Chinese Embassy in Italy were staged in Florence on Nov.3rd, 2019.

In the packed Tuscany Concert Hall of Florence, artists from northwest China’s Gansu Song and Dance Theater put on performances featuring the ancient Silk Road and the cultural exchange and mutual learning between the East and the West.

Mangani, director of the Culture Department of Prato city, said that the performance was not only wonderful, but also resonated among the audience. "For centuries, China has sent envoys to all parts of the world, while Italy is the hometown of Marco Polo. In this regard, the two sides have much in common. In addition, the fact that a large country like China has achieved harmony and unity among its many ethnic groups with different languages and customs is worthy of acclaim. "

As the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has gradually gained popularity in Italy, the ancient Silk Road that connected Chang'an and Rome is reviving. Campinotti, an Italian entrepreneur, expressed optimism about the future cooperation between Italy and China.

“Meet Across Millennium” is a comprehensive cultural exchange project created by the SCIO. It aims to carry forward the Silk Road spirit and the concept of community with a shared future for mankind through art performances and , exhibitions of picture and films. The BRI is the continuation of the ancient Silk Road in the new era. It is a road of dialogue and exchanges between different civilizations, and a road of booming trade. On this road, we have seen different countries and ethnic groups with different cultures, customs and religious beliefs. This requires us to enhance understanding through exchanges, which will contribute to promoting friendship among peoples and building a better world together, said Lu Guangjin, director general of the Human Rights Department of the SCIO.

The documentary films "Roof of the World" and "At the Foot of the Tian Shan" were screened at the prince's cinema in Florence to present the natural scenery, cultural traditions and the stories of harmonious coexistence between human and nature in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

The trip will then take the cultural delegation to Greece.
